Week Eight

During this week, we found out that the sounds that Sean had done on his phone had been lost due to him having to reset his phone and us forgetting to back them up, so this changed our soundscape slightly. But before we change it completely we are going to try and record them again. As well as this, we also stared the final editing process of the soundscape now that we had the majority of our sounds to work with. Most sounds that we worked with had be normalised, and cut to the length that we needed, a few tracks had been time warped – this means to slow down or speed up a track. Most notable tracks that this was done to was the train line alarm. We also added reverb to the last alarm clock track you hear; this was to add a ‘to be continued’ effect.

Week Seven

This week was when we had to present to the class what we would be doing in our soundscape so we didn’t get much recording done this; however we did get our presentation and planning done so we could present a good and precise presentation to the class.

Week Six

This week we got some more recordings done; the recordings for this week would be the train line alarm for when the train barriers are about to come down. As well as this we also got we also got some recording of walking in the stairwell, also with that came some faint conversation – we feel this a good thing because it makes the sound more authentic rather than it being a treated sound where we asked for silence.

Week Five

During this week, because we had quite a few sounds together, Callum and Sean thought it would be a good idea to meet up and try and get some basic edits done. We also met up as a whole group to just touch base on how much we had to do and how far we have come with our soundscape. As well as this, Sean got some more recordings done of the student being in University, by recording walking into a lecture, being in a lecture and walking out of a lecture. As well as this Sean also went to a nightclub and got some recordings of being in a nightclub and being outside a nightclub. All of these sounds were done using Sean’s phone.

Week Four

This week, we got some more recording down and this time it was as if the student was out and about, so we got traffic sounds, sounds of the cathedral bells. There was also some more ‘home’ recording, this included sounds of watching the Television and the sound of a Microwave, such as the actual sound a microwave makes when it is on and cooking food and the ‘ding’ that the microwave makes when it is finished. This week was the same as last week with Callum and Sean ‘acting’ the sounds out and Adam would be recording the sounds using a Zoom Mic.
