Week Three

We started recording some sounds this week and the first sounds that we would record would be sounds that you would hear when a student wakes up, such as having a shower, going to the toilet, brushing your teeth, pouring milk into cereal etc., Callum and Sean would be doing the ‘acting’ for the sounds while Adam would be recording. The reason we had the roles like this is because Oliver broke his foot and therefore was unfortunately not able to assist with some of the early recording process because he was not able to walk about with the rest of the group. Adam would use a number of techniques including Close Micing. – Close Micing technique is a good technique because you can get a lot of detail from your sound as opposed to if you would record from a fair distance.

Week Two

We found out what our groups were this week and the following people are in the group: Oliver Michalitsianos, Sean Doyle, Callum Norfolk and Adam Pailing. After we sorted out our group we started planning out what we are going to be doing for our soundscape and what we’re going to be doing week for week.  We decided that we would do a soundscape on ‘A Day in the Life of a Student’.  Adam would be using a Zoom Mic to record the sounds and Callum and Sean would be ‘acting out’ the sounds.

Week One

In the first week, we learnt how to use the Zoom H4n for close Micing and we learnt how to attach an external Microphone so we could record other sounds that were more intricate and harder to pic up on just the standard Zoom Mic.
